Form 8S in the Girls' Division of Bolton School has raised £500 for the charity Street Kids' Community Villages (SKCV), which looks after Indian street children in the southern city of Vijayawada in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The girls were alerted to the work of the charity through a video in their PSE Lesson and decided to do something to help. SKCV has been one of the Girls’ Division’s chosen charities for a number of years, after 20 Sixth Form Girls and 4 members of staff visited the projects in Vijayawada.
The girls spent their lunch break jogging around the School’s running track - the more laps they ran and the more money they raised.
The girls’ Form Teacher, Mrs Langley-West, commented: "after the form group learned about the great work that this charity undertakes, the girls felt compelled to help out in whatever way they could. I am really proud of their efforts.”
