students seek uS Golf scholarships

Twenty three students from Years 11, 12 and 13 of Bolton School will be going to Florida for 2 weeks in search of golf scholarships.  The students have helped finance the trip in a number of ingenious ways including a 24 hour golf round, race nights, golf days, 10 chipping challenges and a golf raffle.

The students will visit the University of Central Florida where they hope they will be able to secure a long-term agreement with the university to offer golf scholarships to students from Bolton School.  They will also visit the National Training Centre for Golf, where they also hope to set up stronger ties.

One of the School's Old Boys, Chubby Chandler, who is an ex-player and now an agent to many famous golfers including Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke, has invited the students to attend the final day of the Arnold Palmer Invitation at Bay Hill as his guests.

Golf is a popular sport at Bolton School and there are some 40 members in the School golf club, there is lunchtime coaching and a number of teams.

The trip follows on from four very successful previous golf tours to Spain.
