sixth form boys join rBS for the summer

Three Sixth Form students, Craig Haslam, Paul Alexander and Sarfraz Munshi, have won through an arduous and competitive interview process to secure placements on a month long employment scheme being offered by the Royal Bank of Scotland to Bolton School pupils this summer.

The Year 12 students will follow a structured programme at RBS's Calvin Street HQ and will be given a full insight into the world of banking and finance.  The scheme has been designed to recreate the entire employment process, ranging from the initial application process to panel interview and ending with a paid position in the bank.

Students were interviewed at the RBS offices in Bolton and were expected to demonstrate an awareness of business, financial markets and current economic developments.  Each had to give a blind and a pre-prepared presentation and underwent a structured interview in front of a judging panel.  Students were then fed back to on their performance.

Mr Richard Catterall, Head of Careers in the Boys' Division, said: "We are delighted that the Royal Bank is, once again, willing to assist our students and offer them paid employment over their summer holiday.  It is part of a long and healthy relationship that the School has enjoyed with the bank and we thank them for their time in interviewing so many of our pupils.”
