On Wednesday 7 May 2008 the School was proud to host a very special inaugural event: the first gathering of the exclusive Bolton School 1915 Club. Guests were treated to afternoon tea in the Arts Centre and an exhibition of pupils' Technology, Art and Design work, before moving on to the School's May Serenade concert, which took place in the Great Hall of the Girls’ Division.
The 1915 Club was formed to enable the School to publicly recognise the great generosity of Old Boys, Old Girls, Parents and Friends of the school who have chosen to set up legacies to the Foundation, thereby helping the School to flourish and enabling thousands of young people from different backgrounds to be given the best possible start in life.
Development Director, Mrs Taylor, said: "Legacies have always been very important to the School and The 1915 Club gives us the opportunity to thank donors in their lifetime and to recognise their affection for the School. The members of the Club and their partners will be invited to an annual gathering at the School at which we will update them about the ongoing developments made possible by the Club’s important financial support. It will also offer a chance for members to catch up with old acquaintances and friends.”
The Club takes its name from the year in which the Bolton School Foundation formally came into existence, its future secured by Lord Leverhulme’s charitable re-endowment. Inspired by his example, many wish to do what they can to set up bursaries to enable for future generations of talented local pupils to benefit from our excellent teaching and facilities, and to help maintain the wonderful buildings that Lord Leverhulme gifted to us.
